I'm David Longoria, and I am asking Harris County voters to elect me Judge of the 314th Family (Juvenile) District Court.
Associate Judge David Longoria was born in Laredo, Texas on December 25, 1944.
David graduated from Martin High School in Laredo in 1962.
After graduation, he attended Laredo Jr. College and Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas for two years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964 and was deployed to Vietnam during his last year of service. David was Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1967, having received medals for Good Conduct, National Defense, Vietnam Campaign, and Vietnam Service.
Upon his discharge from the Army, David re-enrolled in school attending college on the G.I. Bill and graduated in August of 1970 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&I University.
In September 1970, he enrolled at the University of Houston, Bates School of Law, and graduated in December of 1972. David took his bar exam in February, 1973 and was licensed to practice law in the state of Texas on April 16, 1973.
Upon being licensed, David practiced law as a sole practitioner in Houston, Texas, for over 18 years, with a concentration in Criminal, Family and Juvenile Law. David had the honor of being appointed the first full-time Associate Judge of the 315th Juvenile District Court in September of 1991 where he served for 3 years until he was re-appointed as the Associate Judge of the 314th Juvenile District Court in January, 1993. He continued in that position for 8 more years through December of 2002.
David the acquired a position as Assistant Director of the Judicial Department of the City of Houston Municipal Courts in 2003 and remained in that post until January 2005 when he returned to the bench in his most recent appointment as the presiding Associate Judge of Harris County IV-D Child Support Court #4.
During his judicial career of over 16 years, Associate Judge David Longoria has been evaluated five times by the Houston Bar Association Judicial Evaluations Poll. He has received the highest “Outstanding” ratings three times and twice received the second highest “Outstanding” ratings of all the Juvenile Judges and Child Support Judges during the periods that he has presided in those courts.
David is a proud father to his daughter, Lisa Longoria, and is currently engaged to Betsi Sanchez, who works for Child Advocates, Inc.
